Mellow Mushroom, primarily an east coast franchise, has recently planted roots on the west coast in The Pearl – 1411 NW Flanders St.
Mellow Mushroom proclaims they are more than a pizza place. Their goal is “to provide an experience that is filled with colorful art, eclectic music and food that comforts your soul.”
I’d say they accomplished that very well. The restaurant has a warm, fun, classic but not kitchy retro vibe. Wood planks cloak the facade of the bar, warm the walls, and ooze across the ceiling. Lime green, raw umber, orange and yellow complete the color scheme. Comfortable swivel barstools are covered in vinyl, plastic bucket seats surround the tables and the booths are appropriately upholstered in a plaid fabric. Local, colorful, interesting artwork adorns the walls. Unique light fixtures emit a snug, comfortable glow.
Pizza places, yes we have those – but we don’t have one that has over 51 beers on tap with another 50-60 bottled beers! A full bar is also available. Every Friday the Mello Mushroom tries to one up their own broad selection of beers by adding a Firkin Keg filled with some exclusive brew. A large screen TV is perfectly mounted to facilitate pizza, beer and game day spirit!
Weekdays between 11am-2pm you can customize your pizza slices. Cheese and red sauce based pizza slices are parbaked, you select your fav toppings, back into the oven it goes and voila- you have a slice of pizza made to order!
Happy Hour Monday-Friday runs from 3-6pm with $1 off appetizers and well drinks and $4 drafts. All day Saturday and Sunday you can enjoy $4 Bloody Mary’s and $3 Mimosas made with pear cider – hmmm, yes please, may I have another!
